Moerner to Lead Pioneer's Automotive OEM Division
LONG BEACH, April 29 -- Pioneer North America today announced that Steve Moerner will serve as president and chief executive officer of its automotive OEM division, Pioneer Automotive Electronic Sales, Inc. Moerner will report to Kaz Yamamoto, president and chief executive officer of Pioneer North America.
Moerner, who is based in Detroit, succeeds David L. McKenzie, a long-time Pioneer veteran who will continue as a senior advisor to the company. Since November 2001, Moerner served as president of Pioneer Automotive Electronics Sales and now adds chief executive officer to his title. He joined Pioneer in 1997 after leaving Jack Harvey and Associates, an independent OEM manufacturer's representative company where he led Pioneer's first OEM activities with the Ford Motor Company, General Motors, and their respective subsidiaries.
"Steve will build upon the strong foundation set by Dave McKenzie to lead our automotive OEM group to the next level of performance, providing innovative, high quality audio systems for a wide range of vehicles and manufacturers," said Yamamoto. "He understands the market and is able to bring unique solutions to our automotive partners."
Pioneer is continuing its efforts to utilize its strong brand name in the aftermarket to secure additional OEM business. The company recently announced it would produce branded audio systems for the Ford Pioneer Sport Trac, the Ford Ranger Tremor and for Toyota's new line of SCION vehicles.
