Telcontar Launches New Drill Down Server 2.5 and Offers Customers Unprecedented Scalability and Speed
SAN JOSE, Calif.--April 29, 2002--Telcontar today announced the launch of the new version of its Drill Down Server(TM), the premier software platform for location-based services, with greatly enhanced scalability and performance. The new features of the Drill Down Server enable Telcontar's customers to provide location-based applications such as maps and driving directions to their own clients at speeds unparalleled in the industry. Yahoo!, Inc. recently used the Drill Down Server 2.5 to develop the location-based services for its new Yahoo!(R) Maps web site.

The Drill Down Server 2.5 enables a variety of location-based applications for Internet browsers, cell phones, call centers, Pocket PCs, PDAs, and in-vehicle telematics units. The location-based services the Drill Down Server 2.5 enables include: commercial and personal fleet tracking; trip planning, navigation, and real-time traffic information; emergency roadside assistance; concierge and directory services. Among the product's new features are the ability to interface with data stored in external relational database management systems, and expanded routing capabilities including pedestrian routing and the ability to add points-of-interest along a route.
The Drill Down Server 2.5 is currently available for Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 2000 and Microsoft(R) Windows(R) NT with support for Sun(R) Solaris(TM), HPUX, and Free BSD to follow. Standard map databases include DMTI Spatial(TM), GDT, NavTech, TeleAtlas North America and Europe.
