Japan Auto exports down 2.9% in FY 2001
TOKYO — Japan's motor vehicle exports in the year to March 31 fell 2.9% from the previous year to 4,248,392 units, while Japanese automakers upped overseas output 0.6% to 6,327,405 units in calendar 2001, the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) said Friday.
The association attributed the export drop to flagging demand in overseas markets other than the United States as well as growing production abroad. (Kyodo News)
