All Star Pro Truck Series Results
HARDEEVILLE, S.C. (April 27, 2002) - For the first time ever at the
Hardeeville Motor Speedway, the Southern All Star Pro Truck Series came to
town for a 100-lap feature. Series points leader Brandon Brown of Jackson,
MS finished in first place, holding off a hard-charging David Odell from
Lawrenceville, GA. Brown, a senior at Mississippi State University laid
back early on in the event proving a cautious run to the top would prove
victorious. The SAS Pro Truck Series event featured 16 trucks from 6
different states across the Southeast and Texas in their third event of the
2002 season.
In local racing action, Tommy Jordan of Hartsville, SC held off the young
Andrew Smith of Savannah, GA for the victory in the Legends A-Main event.
Jordan is currently the Legends Cars National points leader in the 2002
Masters Asphalt Series. In the Xtreme Stock Car event, Scott Thorne of
Hardeeville, SC proved victorious over second place Tim Dasher of Bluffton,
SC as Jimmy "the Jet" Tuten of Hardeeville, SC finished third.
In Street Stock action, Hubert Intro of Bloomingdale,GA was the feature
winner besting Jim Beckett of Ridgeland, SC and Jason Stevens from
Hardeeville, SC. The Mini Stock field had a good showing of cars and
Steven Moore of St. George, SC ran his Mustang into victory lane. Second
place went to Johnny Brown of Bluffton, SC. The mini stock class had the
most exciting racing action of the night as Moore and Brown took turns
swapping paint and the lead for the entire event.
Next weekend, the racing action returns to the Hardeeville Motor Speedway
as the Beasley Family Agency and Nationwide Insurance presents Speedo the
Clown and all children 12 years of age and younger get in free when
accompanied by an adult. This family event will be entertaining for race
fans of all ages. Along with Speedo the Clown in action, the O.C. Welch
Ford-Lincoln-Mercury Late Models, Legends Cars, Mini Stocks and Xtreme
Stock Cars will return as the points series races at the Hardeeville Motor
Speedway begin to heat up. Gates open at 4:00 p.m., qualifying begins at
6:00 p.m. followed by the National Anthem at 7:00 p.m. General admission
ticket prices are $10.00 for adults; $6.00 for Juniors (ages 13-16),
Seniors (55 and older) and Military (with proper I.D.); and children 12 and
under are free.
The Hardeeville Motor Speedway is located three miles south of I-95 (exit 5
in SC) on Highway 17 or just ten miles north of Savannah on Highway 17.
