NASCAR'S KENNY WALLACE JOINS SEMA D.C. RALLY CELEBRITY ROSTER
DIAMOND BAR, Calif. (April 26, 2002) - Kenny Wallace, race driver in both NASCAR
Busch and Winston Cup competitions this season, will attend the SEMA Washington
Rally reception on Wednesday, May 15, on Capitol Hill, according to Linda
Spencer, SEMA director of international and government relations.
"We're delighted that Mr. Wallace and motorsports promotions master George
deBidart will attend the reception in honor of the Congressional Automotive
Performance and Motorsports Caucus," said Spencer.
Wallace and deBidart join Democrat ace James Carville and Republican insider
Frank Luntz who are already on the agenda for SEMA's sixth annual salute to the
77-member congressional Caucus.
In a debate scheduled immediately prior to the reception, from 3:30 to 5 p.m.
that afternoon, Carville and Luntz will spar with each other as they present
their respective political party perspectives on the nation's state of politics,
this fall's mid-term congressional elections, and issues affecting small
business and the automotive industry.
Spencer said that SEMA has invited all the members of Congress to both the
reception and the debate, with special invitations to the members of the Caucus.
The bi-partisan caucus is co-chaired by Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-CO) and
Congressman Sander Levin (D-MI). Formed in 1996 to raise the profile of the
motorsports and specialty automotive industry nationally and in the nation's
capitol, the Caucus has consistently supported the industry.
Senator Campbell will host an "insider breakfast" on Thursday, May 16.
