Merritt Rally Challenge Update
- Event Bulletin update- Merritt, BC, Canada April 27, 2002 *************************************************************** -> Yokohama Tire (Canada) and the West Coast Rally Association announce a Contingency Program (you can WIN tires and rebates!) *************************************************************** ~~~~~ What: ~~~~~ The City of Merritt will soon play host to an intense motorsports competition as rally teams from around BC converge here for the Merritt Rally Challenge on April 27th. This event for production-derived cars is presented by the Vancouver-based motorsport club, the West Coast Rally Association (WCRA). Currently the WCRA organizes several forms of rally competition throughout BC and the Merritt Rally Challenge will be the lead-in to the next full-scale performance rally event, the Pacific Forest Rally, to be held here later on June 8th. ~~~~~ Type: ~~~~~ This will be a rallycross, consisting of a temporary course laid out on a large, flat gravel surface. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Schedule (subject to change): ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Saturday April 27 10:00 - 12:00 Registration and scrutineering 12:30 - 12:45 Introduction of officials and drivers' meeting 13:00 - 15:00 Part 1 of Rally Cross 15:00 - 16:00 Service 16:00 - 1900 Part 2 of rally Cross 19:00 End of Rallycross 20:00 Awards Presentation and Dinner at Niki's Restaurant ~~~~~~~~ Entries: ~~~~~~~~ The maximum number of entries will be limited to 50 cars for the rallycross, accepted in the order of receipt of entries. The organizers reserve the right to refuse any entry. Entries will be accepted until 10:30am on Saturday April 27, 2002. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Entry Fees: ~~~~~~~~~~~ Rallycross $50 CDN ($30 USD) The entry fee must accompany the completed entry form or it will not be accepted. ~~~~~~ Venue: ~~~~~~ Headquarters Best Western Nicola Inn, 4025 Walters Street, Merritt Registration Best Western Nicola Inn Scrutineering Best Western Nicola Inn Rallycross Aspen Planers, Merritt Awards Dinner Niki's Restaurant (at Best Western Nicola Inn) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Accommodation: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Best Western Nicola Inn (Tel 1 800 663 2830) is offering to rally competitors, a room rate of $65 per night for the nights of Friday April 26th and Saturday April 27th. Book early, because rooms are extremely limited, especially for the Saturday. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Contingency Program: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Yokohama Tire Contingency Program is in effect for this event.
