Irwindale, Calif. - - We'll have to go back to the record books or consult with either Keith Lair (sportswriter for the LA Newsgroup) or Tim Kennedy (National Speed Sport News' Irwindale correspondent) on this one … When WAS the last time that six different divisions were run on one night at the Speedway?  

On Saturday night the Southern California Pipe Trades will present over 200 laps of racing action on both tracks (the half-mile and the third-mile), with both USAC open-wheel single-seaters and NASCAR stock cars in action; all on the same night … Whew!   This card almost sounds like one of those compilation “Greatest Hits of All Time” CD albums that they sell on cable!

For the record there's the (1) Jani-King Late Models in round 2 of the Miller Lite Big 10 Challenge, the (2) American Race Trucks, the (3) Ultra Wheel Super Trucks, the (4) Grand American Modifieds, the (5) Ford Focus Midgets and the (6) Russell USAC Triple Crown Pro Series Presented by Yokahama.  Fans have been advised to train well for this action-packed show and to get to bed early on Friday night because they'll be standing and cheering a whole bunch on Saturday night at the Speedway!

This big night of racing at Irwindale is a regular price event with Adults paying only $15.00, Children 6-12: only five bucks, and kids 5 and under are admitted free.  That's about 7 and a half cents per lap based on the adult ticket price, with the 6 to 12 contingent getting 200 laps of racing thrills at the bargain basement price of 2 and half cents a lap!  Talk about your sweet entertainment deals!  

That, and the pre-race “Know your NASCAR” question-and-prizes and autograph session, the face-painting clown for the young'uns, the live band from 4 to 6PM, and the open pits after the race, all add up to a more racing for your money night that's bound to be every race-fan's delight.
