USAR Returns to Coastal Plains Raceway
 

            Fayetteville, GA (April 9, 2002) - After enjoying a very successful race last year United Speed Alliance Racing is ready to return to Coastal Plains Raceway on Saturday, April 27th for the Bryant Heating and Cooling 150 presented by Down East Heating & Cooling. Start time for the race will be 7:30 pm.

USAR will once again bring the Hooters ProCup Series Southern Division to the challenging 4/10-mile track located in Jacksonville, NC. Last season Shane Huffman collected his first career USAR Hooters ProCup Series win at the track. Huffman led a commanding 172 laps in the 250-lap race.

            "You need a car that will turn good at Coastal Plains," said Huffman. "I am excited about going back to the track. The Series has thrown us a curve by only making it 150 laps, but it will not make it any easier winning there. It is a tough place to race."

            Huffman added that by running only 150 laps as compared to the usual 250-lap events, pit strategy will change completely.

            "We will have a different pit strategy because the race is shorter," Huffman said. "We won't have to make a pit stop so that will not determine the outcome of the race."

            Huffman has enjoyed a good start to the 2002 USAR Hooters ProCup Series for his Jennie-O Turkey Store-sponsored team. Huffman has remained in the top-five in the point standings early in the season and hopes by the time the Series reaches Coastal Plains they will be up front defending their win from last year.

            "We should have our chassis figured out by the time we get to Jacksonville," said Huffman. "My goal is to beat the best drivers in this Series. I think we have the team to do it."

            Toby Robertson also enjoyed a first at Coastal Plains Raceway last season, winning his first Hooters ProCup Series Pole Award. Robertson led the first lap and remained in contention until engine problems ended his night early on lap 99.

            Another driver confident about Coastal Plains should be Jacksonville resident Ray Peele. He finished 25th last year after parking his Chevrolet on lap 73. Peele has entered the Series full-time this season and should be a contender at his home track.

            The Bryant Heating & Cooling 150 presented by Down East Heating & Cooling will be one of two non-televised races for the USAR Hooters ProCup Series in 2002. The Series will also have a Northern Division race the same day at Illiana Speedway in Schererville, Indiana.
