ADVISORY/Earth Day Event: Flexcar Launches Car-sharing Service in Kirkland and Supports ''One Sweet Whirled'' Campaign to Reduce Global Warming
--Kirkland residents passing thru downtown today will learn how they can get a car, free ice cream and help curb global warming -- all at the same time!
Flexcar expands its car-sharing operations to the City of Kirkland today, supporting the "One Sweet Whirled" campaign to fight global warming.
The campaign, sponsored by Ben & Jerry's, Dave Matthews Band and SaveOurEnvironment.org, encourages people to pledge to reduce CO2 output by 2,000 lbs within a year. Among the simple things people can do is drive 15 miles less per week, or drive a hybrid or electric vehicle.
Flexcar has received awards and commendations for its unique car-sharing program that reduces congestion, helps increase use of public transit and contributes to sustainable communities. Used in conjunction with public transit, car/vanpools and walking/biking, car-sharing can make it easier for people to reduce their CO2 output. Flexcar's national fleet includes low-emission Honda Civics, hybrid Toyota Prius and Civic models, and zero-emission Ford Th!nk vehicles.
