#41 Target Talladega Race Report

April 22, 2002

SPENCER FINISHES TOP-20 AT TALLADEGA

TALLADEGA, Ala. (April 21, 2002) - The Target Dodge Intrepid R/T driven by
Jimmy Spencer finished in 17th place in the Aaron's 499 at Talladega
Superspeedway. Spencer moved up two positions to 20th in NASCAR Winston Cup
championship points.

The Target Dodge started the 188-lap event in 30th position. Spencer
originally qualified in 32nd position but practice accidents moved two cars
to the back of the field prior to the start of the race. Early in the
event, the Target Dodge fell back to the back of the field and was running
between 38th and 42nd positions. Spencer radioed in stating that the car
would not go. He was running wide-open around the track but the car had no
speed in it.

Following the first caution period on lap115, Spencer brought the Target
Dodge in for a four tires and fuel pit stop and the team changed out the
left front shock in hopes of making the car faster.

Spencer was caught in the 15+-car accident on the backstretch on lap 161.
The Target Dodge was brought into the pits four times to repair body damage.
Although the Target Dodge was damaged, Spencer was now running higher in
position that he had all day. He restarted the event in 16th position.

Following another caution and red flag on lap 182, Spencer restarted the
four-lap shootout in 18th position. He was able to move up one spot to take
the checkered flag in 17th place.

"It was a disappointing day," Spencer said. "We just couldn't get the car
to go. I was running wide open all day but I was still racing in the back
of the field. Team Target had awesome pit stops today and that helped us
gain positions but unfortunately we lost them on the track.

"The accident on the backstretch actually helped us, even though we got
caught in it. We were able to repair the body damage and we were able to go
back out there and finish on the lead lap."

Next on the schedule for the No. 41 Target team is the NAPA Auto Parts 500
at California Speedway on April 28, 2002.
