Elysium Speeds Development for the Mild Seven Renault Formula One Team; CADporter Software Wins in Translating CATIA, Unigraphics, Pro/ENGINEER Data
TORRANCE, Calif.--April 22, 2002--Elysium Inc., a leading global provider of CAD translation software, today announced that the Mild Seven Renault F1 Team has selected CADporter software to streamline its racecar development.Renault, returning to Formula One in 2002 with a 100% Renault design and the long-term goal of winning the Formula One World Championship, declared Elysium the champion after benchmarking CADporter against other CAD translators.
"CADporter achieved a 99% success rate translating CATIA data to Pro/ENGINEER and Parsolid formats, which is a major part of the data exchange requirements. Extensive trials have been carried out so the designers have complete confidence that the translated data will maintain design specifications in the destination software packages," said Alan Duerden, CAD Support Engineer, Mild Seven Renault F1 Team.
The Renault team recognized that in order to achieve technical excellence in the design process for these very high-performance racing cars, it needed a closely-aligned collaborative engineering environment for its suppliers and stress analysis team -- many of whom were using highly specialized and heterogeneous CAD systems.
"Interoperability of the various CAD systems in use across the team was not being fully solved by using STEP and IGES," stated Duerden, Mild Seven Renault F1 Team. "We needed a technology that performed accurate, native-to-native format translations that would allow immediate access, sharing and collaboration of the design. Elysium's CADporter software provides the quality we require for our current and ongoing projects."
Elysium's CADporter software is already in use within the Mild Seven Renault F1 Team, and is allowing immediate integration of design developments into the current car as well as the cars being designed for next year.
"With CADporter by Elysium, the Renault F1 Team can actively pursue integrated long-term development of the car and engine both now and for the 2003 design," stated Jean-Jacques His, Managing Director of Renault F1 Team France. "We anticipate that CADporter will be used for the forseeable future by our team."
"We are extremely proud that CADporter has been chosen as the best-of-breed interoperability solution for the Renault F1 Team," remarked Ken Tashiro, vice president and COO of Elysium. "Reliable data translation means an overall reduction in design cycle time, increased productivity and efficiency, and resulting in what we hope will be a great season for the Renault team."
About Elysium Inc.
Founded in 1984, Elysium (www.elysiuminc.com) develops, distributes and markets data translator software to enable collaborative engineering environments. Elysium has a successful track record with several major software companies including Adobe Systems, Autodesk, CoCreate, Maya Metrix, Spatial Corporation and SDRC.
CADporter exhibits superior 3-D geometry handling, management of different topology representations and the automatic healing of inconsistencies that regularly occur during the conversion of surface and solid CAD models. It allows true interoperability between ACIS-based applications, CATIA, I-DEAS, Pro/ENGINEER, SolidWorks and Unigraphics with the industry's highest translation success rate. It enables accurate conversion of original source data, which makes sharing information among several widely used CAD applications an easier process. This rapid exchange facilitates improvement in designer productivity and reduces cost associated with incompatible translation tools. CADporter features the ability to read and write true native file formats.
