Hiskey Hold Off GT Competitors; Earns Podium Finish
PHOENIX, Ariz. (April 20, 2002) - In their first race of the 2002 season in their own car, the Crazy Redhead Racing/Fordahl Motorsports team got right back to the podium.
The team won the event at Phoenix International Raceway in 2001 and were looking for a repeat, but were pleased with the turn out of the 2002 UnitedAuto 200 nonetheless.
"It felt good to be back in my car with my crew" Hiskey said. "The Crazy Redhead team had been gone for a while, but when we got here this weekend, everything fell right back into place."
Randy Pobst started the race second in the GT class in the #15 Crazy Redhead Racing/Fordahl Motorsports/Roger Jobs Porsche GT3-RS.
By lap 67, the halfway point of the race, Pobst was the class leader and eighth overall.
During a pit stop on lap 101, Hiksey climbed into the driver's seat of the #15 Porsche and went back out in third. For the next 32 laps, she held off the rest of the GT field and earned a third place GT finish.
"I was glad we turned in a podium finish for our sponsor, Roger Jobs Porsche," Hiskey said. "It's always nice when you can give a good showing to the sponsors, who without them, you wouldn't be there in the first place."
Hiskey and her Crazy Redhead team will have a break until the next Rolex event at Watkin's Glen, NY, in late June.
