Law Earns Top Five Finish in Cup Race

PHOENIX, Ariz. (April 20, 2002) - Had Grand-Am Cup driver Daren Law had a few more laps during the Grand-Am Cup race on Saturday night at Phoenix International Raceway, he would have earned his first Cup victory of the year.

After putting the #01 G&W Motorsports/Jennifer Fund Porsche Cup Car on the pole, Law kept the Porsche running in the front for the first hour.

"The crew made a lot of setup changes to the car last night and it ran great today," Law said.

After a pit stop, Law turned the driving duties over to G&W teammate Steve Marshall. During his stint, Marshall had a spin, which caused the Porsche to lose time.

Law took back over with about one hour left in the race. By the end of the race, Law had moved the car from 11th place to fifth.

"We got a little behind in the middle, but I was able to get the car into the top five by the end," Law said.

"Darren did a great job at getting us back to the front," Marshall said. "I had a spin that got us behind, but Darren made up a lot of positions in the last hour."

Law will be competing tonight at 7:00 p.m. at the UnitedAuto 200 at PIR.
