Electrical Problems for Law in Phoenix

Electrical Problems for Law in Phoenix

PHOENIX, Ariz. (April 19, 2002) - It was a disappointing day at Phoenix International Raceway for Darren Law and the G&W Motorsports team.

The #07 Momentum Motorcars/G&W Motorsports BMW-powered Picchio prototype sponsored by USI Insurance and Valley Group failed to qualify due to an electrical problem.

"We are fighting a problem with the mapping of the engine's computer," Law said. "We missed qualify today, but we hope to get a problem sorted out by the race tomorrow."

Since they failed to qualify, the G&W team will have to start from the back of the field.

The #07 Picchio started to pick up its pace in last night's practice session, turning the second fastest time in the Sport Racer Prototype II (SRPII) class.

"We started making some headway," Law said. "We split the Rand cars in practice last night, so we know the car is capable of being competitive."

Law will have a busy day at the track tomorrow. He will qualify and race the #07 G&W Motorsports/Jennifer Fund Porsche Cup car, give pace car rides to kids and compete in the UnitedAuto 200 at 7:00 p.m.
