FONDA SPEEDWAY TO OPEN THEIR 50th SEASON

After a rainout last Saturday, the management and staff of the “Track of Champions” Fonda Speedway are ready and eager to get in some racing action, as they will open the regular season this Saturday 4/20/02. In competition on the opening night of points will be the Modifieds, Sportsman, Pro Stocks, and Street Stocks. The green flag will drop for racing action at 5:00 p.m. with pit gates opening at 2:00 p.m. and front gates opening at 3:00 p.m.

Back to begin their quest for back-to-back track championships will be Jeff Trombley Modified, John McAuliffe Sportsman, Rob Noviczski Pro Stock, and Dave Horning, Jr. Street Stock. Trombley’s regular ride for the 2002 season at Fonda will be the Roger Savoie #5 Teo car while McAuliffe will use the same trusty Teo car that took him to the Sportsman point title last season. Noviczski will have a brand new Pro Stock while Horning, Jr. will race the same car that he crashed at the end of the 2001 season after straightening everything that he could on the car over the winter.

The IMCA division will begin their season on Saturday, April 27 with 2001 track champion Steve Bidwell going after his third point title in a row. Bidwell will have a brand new IMCA car for this year and he also has a Bicknell car that he purchased from Jake Spraker for competition in the Sportsman division in some races this season.

Be sure to get to Fonda Speedway in 2002 to help them celebrate a very special season of competition on the fastest, toughest ½ mile on dirt. For more information please call (518) 382-0353, race day phone (518) 853-4235 or go on their website www.fondaspeedway.com
