Mickey & Trudy Thompson murder case update

You requested that we keep you informed of the latest information regarding Mickey & Trudy Thompson's murder case.  Following is that information.  (Thank you for caring.  It's been a long 14 years and the family and friends have never stopped hurting and missing Mickey & Trudy.)

We have just been informed that the Preliminary Hearing will begin as scheduled, 9: a.m., Monday, April 15 and could go through the 16th.   As you know, a "Preliminary" is to ascertain if there is evidence to hold the defendant, Michael Goodwin, over for trial.  This proceeding has been delayed at the request of the defense in the past, however, the prosecutor feels it will go ahead on Monday.  Superior Court Judge Frank Briseno will be hearing the case, at Orange County Central Court.  The courtroom is located on the 10th floor, Division 40, 700 Civic Center West, Santa Ana.

THIS  HAS  HAPPENED  TO  DATE:  (General Information)
DANA POINT, CA.--Michael F. Goodwin, 56, was arrested Friday, December 14, 2001, for two counts of murder, conspiracy to commit murder (with special circumstances).  Goodwin is being held, without bail, in Orange County, for the murder of auto racing legend Mickey Thompson and his wife, Trudy, who were shot to death in the driveway of their Bradbury, CA home, March 16, 1988, as they were leaving for work at 6: a.m.

F.Y.I.  Recent Previous Court Action:
At the request of Goodwin's defense attorney, his February 15, 2002 Federal Probation Violation Hearing was rescheduled to 
Feb. 17, 2003.
March 1, 2002 the Recusal Hearing was rescheduled to March 8, 2002 and on March 8, 2002, the hearing was reset to March 18th, 2002
March 18, 2002  Orange County Superior Court Judge Frank Briseno denied the Recusal motion which Goodwin's attorney had filed in an attempt to remove the case from District Attorney Tony Rackauckus' jurisdiction.
