Chrome's AutoBuilder Copies TACH Release Includes Comparator and Review Features

    PORTLAND, Ore.--April 11, 2002--

AutoBuilder 3.0 Compares Multiple Vehicles' Complex Configurations and Displays Results in Easy-to-Read, Customizable Text

Chrome Systems Corporation, a leading provider of automotive data, configuration technology and commerce solutions, announced today the release of AutoBuilder(TM) 3.0, Chrome's enterprise development platform.
The newest release of the Application Programming Interface (API) developer's tool includes a comparison feature and a rich store of research information that will bring more value to client sites.
For consumer applications that want to "keep it simple," AutoBuilder 3.0 can be set to display in easy-to-read text only the most meaningful differences between two vehicles, as determined by the client. For example, AutoBuilder can be programmed to highlight comfort and convenience feature differences while suppressing comparisons of detailed technical specifications that may be considered too much detail for a client's target audience. On the other hand, for automotive enthusiasts or professional applications where rich detail is desirable, AutoBuilder 3.0 can quickly analyze and display a comparison of hundreds of individual price and specification items on as many as 12 vehicles at a time.
AutoBuilder's powerful text engine enables extensive customization of different messages for different purposes in order to create the most meaningful experience for the target audience. For example, in addition to stating the differences for a given specification, an AutoBuilder client can append free text to the description to highlight why the difference is important to the end user. This functionality will enable sites to more quickly and easily communicate a vehicle's value vis-a-vis its competition, increasing the likelihood of a favorable impression on the end-user.
The AutoBuilder release will also offer new content, including an enhanced photo library, reviews, vehicle ratings and road test information. This additional store of content-rich information is available within the API and can be adopted to meet the exact needs of the client's site.
"I believe that with the addition of the comparator and research tools, AutoBuilder is now the most comprehensive tool for portals and dealers on the market today," said David Mingle, Chrome's President and COO.
