Simula Nominates General Jean - John - Boyle, ret., to Board of Directors; Background Includes Senior Military and Business Roles

    TEMPE, Ariz.--April 11, 2002--Simula, Inc. (AMEX: SMU) announced today that General Jean (John) Boyle, CAF ret., has been nominated for election to the Company's Board of Directors at its Annual Shareholders Meeting to be held June 20, 2002.
    General Boyle retired as Chief of the Defense Staff of Canada's Armed Forces, the equivalent to the Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, following a distinguished thirty-year military career.
    From 1997 to 1999, General Boyle was employed by the Boeing Company as its Vice-President, International Business Development (St. Louis, MO), and from 1999 to 2001 as the Managing Director of Boeing International Corporation-Europe (Brussels, Belgium).

    General Boyle is affiliated with the SPECTRUM Group (Washington, D.C.). He has assisted the Company in preparing an international business development strategy for its Cockpit Airbag Systems (CABS) product line. The SPECTRUM Group provides consulting and strategic advice to companies in the areas of defense and national security, Congressional and government relations, and international business.
    In his military career, General Boyle was responsible for the overall command of the Canadian Forces. General Boyle also served as an Assistant Deputy Minister (Personnel-J2) and as an Associate Deputy Minister (Policy-J5) within National Defense Headquarters. A former fighter pilot, he commanded 1 (Canadian) Air Division in Lahr, Germany, and 4 (Fighter) Wing Baden-Soellingen, Germany. He is a graduate ('71) and former Commandant ('91-'93) of the Royal Military College of Canada.
