UnitedAuto Group Becomes One of the First Six Toyota Dealers in Mexico
DETROIT--April 10, 2002--UnitedAuto Group, Inc. , a FORTUNE 500 automotive specialty retailer, announced today that it has entered into a partnership with Mexican auto retailers Mario and Javier Padilla Longoria.UAG Holdings de Mexico has formed a joint venture with Mario and Javier Padilla Longoria to operate the Toyota franchise in Monterrey, Mexico. The dealership, which will be named Toyota de Monterrey, is one of the first six dealerships appointed by Toyota to operate in Mexico.
Commenting on this new entry into Mexico, UnitedAuto Chairman, Roger Penske, remarked, "By forming this joint venture with our Mexican partners, Mario and Javier Padilla Longoria, UAG is presented with a great opportunity, with excellent growth potential. This joint venture continues to build on the outstanding relationship we have with Toyota and allows us to enter an attractive market with minimal investment."
