Alamo Rent-A-Car Announces Elimination of Commissions for Select Business and Government Contract Bookings

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--April 9, 2002--Alamo Rent-A-Car, the leisure focused brand of the ANC Rental Corporation, announced today that after careful review of the marketplace, it will make no changes to commissions paid on leisure, association and non-negotiated corporate rentals. Alamo will move to eliminate base commissions paid to travel agents for car rentals on individually negotiated corporate and government accounts. These changes will take effect for all rentals occurring after April 10, 2002.
"While we need to address the changing landscape of the industry, we recognize and value our travel agency partnerships," said Mike Going, ANC Rental Corporation's Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales. "Our preferred relationships will remain in place as an integral piece of our business strategy. Alamo has stated that the override and special incentive programs it has with its key travel agent partners will remain unaffected."
Headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, ANC Rental Corporation is one of the world's largest car rental companies with annual revenue of approximately $3.2 billion in 2001. With over 3,000 locations in 69 countries, over 17,000 ANC associates serve customers with an average daily fleet of approximately 271,000 automobiles.
