MTS Expands Formula 1 Solutions
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., April 8 /MTS Systems Corporation announced today that it was awarded a multi-million dollar contract by a leading Formula 1 team. The contract is for an advanced hardware and software system for F1 car performance validation. The name of the team and the exact nature of supply are by agreement confidential as the technology represents a significant advantage to the team in this most competitive racing series.
``Our Formula 1 racing customers continue to push the limits of their designs through the use of both improved simulations and physical validation equipment,'' said David Meier, MTS director of Motorsports Marketing. ``Our racing industry customers select MTS equipment for physical simulation and model validation because we are as advanced in our field as they are in theirs. No other automotive industry segment has quite the same combination of demanding performance requirements for physical simulations. The high speeds, extreme forces and accelerations, and tiny margins needed to design a winning car are unique to the Formula 1 segment,'' Meier said.
``Formula 1 racing is the ultimate proving ground for accelerated design validation programs,'' said Sidney W. Emery, Jr., MTS chairman and CEO. ``The leading edge teams look to MTS for comprehensive integrated modeling and validation hardware and software. In response, our engineers really rise to meet the challenge. This order strengthens the MTS position as the premier supplier of simulation solutions to the worldwide Motorsports market.''
