Corrected Version: Nicky Hayden Wins Round 3 At California Speedway

AMA / Chevy Trucks U.S. Superbike Championship series Round 3: California
Speedway, Fontana, CA, April 7, 2002

Honda Racing's Nicky Hayden won the third round of the AMA Superbike
Championship series at California Speedway in convincing fashion.

Nicky Hayden pulled the holeshot in Sunday's Superbike race (the second
of the weekend's doubleheader) and never looked back. After finishing
Saturday's Superbike race in third place, Hayden made a few adjustments
to his RC51 and his race strategy.

"I really wanted to win yesterday as well," said Hayden. "Last night I
reviewed the race on tape and saw some things that I could do
differently. We also made a few minor changes to the Honda and it
performed flawlessly. I am pumped to leave Fontana with a win."

Honda Racing's Miguel Duhamel finished Sunday's Superbike main in
seventh place position, struggling with a tire problem.

Erion Racing's Kurtis Roberts suffered a crash in Friday's Superbike
practice on his RC51, injuring his right knee and his left ankle.
Roberts sat out Saturday's Superbike main and Sunday's main events to
   further let his injuries heal.

Both Nicky Hayden and Miguel Duhamel donned special "Scorpion King"
movie graphics on their leathers and on their factory prepped Honda
RC51s. The movie is slated for an April 19 release. The movie's main
character, played by "The Rock", is prominently displayed on both
   machines.
