Ford Motor Company Selects PeopleSoft Enterprise Service Automation; Automaker Will Drive Hard Cost Savings by Controlling Services Spend

    PLEASANTON, Calif.--April 8, 2002--PeopleSoft announced today that Ford Motor Company has licensed PeopleSoft Enterprise Service Automation (ESA). Ford Motor Company will deploy PeopleSoft ESA at its Dearborn, Michigan-based worldwide information technology (IT) division to manage its resource acquisition, placement, and release process. In addition, Ford will use PeopleSoft ESA to manage the skills inventory of all IT resources to meet its business and strategic IT demands.
    Ford Motor Company's IT division employs 6000 people and utilizes internal and contracted resources to execute thousands of projects annually. PeopleSoft ESA will help Ford reduce costs by controlling its spend on outside contractors, and provide improved ROI on IT projects by streamlining project resource acquisition, skills inventory management, and execution. Using PeopleSoft ESA, Ford will be able to collaborate online with its service suppliers to aggregate, analyze and evaluate spend for contracted services. As a result, Ford can optimize the mix of internal and external resources and staff projects accordingly. In addition, PeopleSoft ESA enables Ford to manage and analyze spending by standardizing processes and expense controls, providing access to a comprehensive view of critical resource and project data.
