Montgomery's Monty Todd Upsets Defending Champion Smith to Take Hometown Win
Montgomery, Ala. -In Saturday's final results from the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event being held at Montgomery Motorsports Park, Top Alcohol Dragster driver Tony Bartone and Top Alcohol Funny Car driver Monty Todd took home the honors.
	In an upset win Montgomery, Ala. runner Monty Todd defeated defending champion Von Smith. Smith, who was among the favorites to win the event, was unable to match Todd's impressive 5.839 second run at 237.34 mph. In the previous round Smith, of Oak Ridge, Tenn. defeated defending Southeast Division Champion Jay Payne. The two drivers are in a tight points battle for the Southeast Division Championship. 
	Tony Bartone of Manhasset, N.Y. piloted his alcohol powered dragster into victory lane when he defeated the Wadley, Ala. dragster of Guy Kelly. After running back-to-back 5.40's in the opening round and semifinals, Kelly slowed to a 5.635 at 250.97 mph, allowing Bartone to take the win with a 5.582 second pass at 254.09 mph.           
	In final qualifying action at Montgomery Motorsports Park, Comp Eliminator driver Van Puckett of Snellville, Ga., Super Stock driver Bobby Dennis of Shorter, Ala.,  and Stock Eliminator driver Tom Hemmingson of Concord, N.C. all captured the top spots in there respective fields.
