Nissan Boosts Its Stake In China Commercial Vehicle JV
TOKYO -Dow Jones reported today that Nissan Motor Co. has increased its stake in a Chinese joint venture with a local automaker to 30% in a move to strengthen its presence in China 's booming commercial vehicle market, where more than 1 million units are sold annually.
Nissan said it purchased a 25% stake in 9-year-old joint venture Zhengzhou Nissan from Sammitr Motors Co . of Thailand for an undisclosed sum in February.
Nissan hopes to tap into the booming Chinese market for both commercial and passenger vehicles in order to reach its goal of boosting its global auto sales by 1 million units in the three years ending March 2005 ....
