Saab Cars USA Records Its Best March Ever
NORCROSS, Ga., April 3 -- Saab Cars USA reached unprecedented sales levels for March, retailing 4,864 vehicles and shattering the record set in March 1988 of 3,978 vehicles. This performance was the third best in Saab Cars USA 46-year history, missing the mark for the best month ever by only 44 vehicles. (June 1986, 4,908 units)
``We are very proud of this spectacular sales performance,'' said Richard O'Kelley, Saab Cars USA Vice President of Sales. ``We are beginning to gain significant momentum in the marketplace with the launch of the new 9-5 and the increased commitment to our advertising and brand campaign.''
``We anticipate that this momentum should continue through 2002 as we prepare to debut the all-new Saab 9-3 later this year,'' O'Kelley added. Year-to-date sales for Saab Cars USA are up 17 percent over the same period last year, 9,138 vehicles over 7,839.
The strongest performer of the record-setting month was the Saab 9-3. Sales of the coupe and 5-door models were up 122 percent from 1,139 to 2,532 vehicles. Saab 9-3 Convertible sales were also up 21 percent over 2001, to 1,032 from 851 units.
The redesigned Saab 9-5 sedan and SportWagon also posted increases over 2001 of 10 and 8.2 percent respectively.
