Michelin Selects Manugistics' Collaborative Supply Chain Solution
PARIS, France--April 3, 2002--Manugistics Group, Inc. , the leading global provider of Enterprise Profit Optimisation(TM) (EPO) solutions that help companies enhance margins by lowering costs and improving revenues across their supply-demand networks, today announced that Michelin Group - one of the world's leading producers of tires for all types of vehicles - has chosen Manugistics' collaborative supply chain solution for implementation across Michelin's European Car and Light Truck tires operations.Manugistics' collaborative supply chain solution will be the cornerstone of Michelin's Mercure Project - the company's supply chain re-engineering initiative. The solution is designed to optimise and better execute across Michelin's extended European trading network key business processes such as demand forecasting, sales planning, materials management and capacity planning. By better balancing supply and demand of tires, Michelin's objective is to improve its already high level of customer service and to reduce its operating costs and inventories of finished goods.
"We selected Manugistics' solution not only because its technical and functional capabilities addressed our requirements, but also because of its proven speed and ease of implementation in distribution intensive industries," said Jerome Monsaingeon, Mercure Project Leader for Michelin.
Manugistics' solution will give Michelin even more flexibility to respond to changing customer needs - improving its ability to ship complete and on-time orders; a better ability to guide trading partners towards supporting the company's delivery and lead-time objectives; and a more complete view of its supply network. Powerful Web-based analytical and reporting tools will also increase Michelin's ability to ensure that its extended European replacement tire manufacturing and distribution network - which includes more than 17 manufacturing plants and 80 distribution centres - is operating at peak performance.
"We are delighted that Michelin - a proven industry innovator - has turned to Manugistics for a solution to help ensure that the right replacement tires are at the right place at the right time to effectively meet customer demand," said Terry Austin, Manugistics' president of European operations. "Like Michelin, Manugistics continues to innovate, offering solutions that help companies, across multiple industries, fulfil demand at a price that maximises top-line revenue."
