Team Walker Motorsports Plans Two-Car Effort At Mesa
Marin
April 1, 2002 (Valencia, Calif.) - Team Walker Motorsports teammates Mike
Walker and Sean Woodside are both heading this weekend to Mesa Marin Raceway
in Bakersfield, Calif. to compete in Saturday's Rialto Concrete Products
125.
"Mesa Marin is a great track for both Woodside and me," Walker commented.
"Woodside has a long history there, and a great performance record. For me,
this is good, solid short track experience competing against some of
NASCAR's best."
"It's a major effort running two cars in one event," Walker continued. "Even
though it makes for a long day, it's good for the teams. There is a lot of
cooperation among the guys all day long, and the pace is good training for
anyone who wants to move up in the sport."
Woodside has raced Mesa Marin in a variety of cars over the years. His most
recent win at the famous 1/2-mile oval came in the March 2000 Southwest
Series event, the Foods Co 100, during his one-year hitch in that series.
Woodside was one of Mesa Marin's strongest Late Model competitors prior to
his Winston West career, and won the October Classic Winston West event in
1997, 1998 and 1999. Woodside also won the Bud Pole Award in both 1997 and
1998 in the October Classic events.
"Mesa Marin is like home to me," said Woodside. "The Southwest Series is a
great show there for the fans, and incredible racing for the drivers. I
always go to Mesa Marin feeling like a good night is not just possible, it's
probable."
The Rialto Concrete Products 125 will be televised on the SPEED Channel on
Monday, April 8, 2002 at 8:00 p.m. EST.
