Nissan Canada Posts 20% Sales Increase for FY 2001

MISSISSAUGA, ON, April 1 /CNW/ - Nissan Canada Inc. announced today, its car and truck sales rose by 20 per cent in fiscal year 2001 versus fiscal year 2000. Combined Nissan and Infiniti car and truck sales totaled 59,061 units, making this Nissan's best sales year ever.

Contributing to this, is the success of the newly launched Nissan Altima, voted "Canadian Car of The Year" by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada, and Infiniti's recently launched G35 sports sedan.

Altima reported record breaking sales for six consecutive months, from October 2001 to March 2002 - at which time Altima posted a 226 per cent increase (1,216 units sold) over the previous March. In addition, Nissan's entry level Sentra enjoyed record breaking sales for 12 consecutive months from March 2001 to March 2002.

Infiniti, Nissan's luxury division, reported record sales for the month of March with 551 units sold, a 94 per cent increase over March 2001.

With the recent launch of Infiniti's all-new G35 luxury sports sedan - and strong consumer demand, sales of G35 alone have reached 284 units in the month of March. This makes G35 the best selling Infiniti ever - breaking all monthly records for any Infiniti vehicle sold in Canada.
