Hitachi Automotive Improves Efficiency And Inventory Control With Geac's System21
ATLANTA--April 1, 2002-- Geac Computer Corpor- Automotive Giant To Renew Maintenance Contract With Geac for
Three Years -
Geac Enterprise Solutions(TM) Americas, a leading provider of Web-enabled enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, today announced that Hitachi Automotive Products (USA), Inc., a subsidiary of Hitachi America, Ltd. , has streamlined production, reduced accounting costs and improved supply chain management using Geac's System21 software solution. Hitachi Automotive implemented three System21 modules in 1998 - financials, manufacturing, and customer service and logistics - across its three locations in Kentucky, Detroit and Los Angeles. In September 2002, the company will renew its maintenance contract with Geac(R) for three years.
"We have realized tremendous benefits in savings, increased efficiency and more accurate inventory control since implementing System21. The solution has helped improve our bottom line by giving us greater visibility into, and control over, our business processes," said Robin Riley, Manager of Information Technology for Hitachi Automotive Products. "For example, we can now monitor inventory during production, something we could not do previously. The savings in time and resources from this alone is tremendous."
Hitachi Automotive initially implemented Geac's System21 in 1998 in preparation for Year 2000 compliance. The Geac implementation on an IBM(R) AS/400 system, now known as the IBM iSeries, enabled Hitachi Automotive's IT department to integrate several segregated divisions running on different software packages within the company. This integration gives management more accurate visibility into operations across the enterprise.
System21 is an integrated suite of applications based on the IBM iSeries platform. System21 includes financials, manufacturing, customer service and logistics, and service management modules designed to provide integrated business intelligence for an entire enterprise. Today, almost 2,000 organizations, based in more than 50 countries, use System21 to run their businesses.
Hitachi Automotive Products was established in Harrodsburg, Kentucky in January 1985, and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hitachi America, LTD. The company manufactures, remanufactures and markets a broad range of electrical and electronic automotive products for all major automotive original equipment manufacturers worldwide. Hitachi is a standard of quality in the Original Equipment (OE) market place and after extensive market research, will bring its OE quality products directly to the aftermarket.
