(MMSA), the Los Angeles Clippers, and the Los Angeles City Recreation and Parks (LACRP) are hosting a fun-filled afternoon at the Mitsubishi Junior Clippers JAM, a mini basketball tournament and end-of-year celebration for program participants and their families. Featured activities include: -- an interactive NBA Jam Van -- rides -- games -- a Read to Achieve area with guest readers and an opportunity for participants to enter to win a Mitsubishi mountain bike -- a 3-on-3 corporate challenge WHEN: Saturday, March 30, 2002 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. prior to the Clippers game against the Utah Jazz WHERE: STAPLES Center, Parking Lot #3 1111 S. Figueroa St. Los Angeles WHO: Denise Booth, Director of Community Relations for the LA Clippers John Patterson, Western Regional Director, Mitsubishi Motors Carl Cooper, LACRP Citywide Youth Sports Committee Chairperson WHY: The JAM celebrates the 2001-2002 season for the Mitsubishi Junior Clippers, a program designed to work exclusively with inner-city children ages five to 15 to promote the fundamentals of basketball, sportsmanship and athletics as an alternative to negative influences. Now in its second year, the program has expanded to include more than 1,500 participants from eight recreation centers throughout Los Angeles.
