Pilgrim Software Unveils New Fully Customizable, Web-based Corrective and Preventive Action - CAPA - Solution

    TAMPA, Fla.--March 29, 2002--Pilgrim Software, Inc., the global leader in Enterprise Quality Management software solutions, today announced that it has developed a fully-customizable, web-based Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) solution built on Microsoft's(R) .NET(R) platform.
    Manufacturers implement CAPA processes to correct nonconforming product and other quality exceptions and prevent their recurrence. Elimination of the root cause of a quality problem helps to reduce the possibility of future quality issues.

    Pilgrim's new web-based CAPA solution will address all CAPA types across global organizations. The system provides a closed loop mechanism to initiate, implement, train and verify effectiveness of changes resulting from the exception experience. In addition, Pilgrim will also offer powerful trending capabilities to identify and prevent future quality issues.
    "When evaluated individually, not every quality-related event will result in an exception," says Risal. "However, when evaluated for trends, such events may become a precursor to potential exceptions. Detecting trends in events through statistical analysis provides a strong foundation for implementing preventive action programs.     Microsoft's(R) .NET(R) architecture provides a strong, open foundation for Pilgrim's CAPA solution. This framework allows Pilgrim to build products that address global, multiple site and multiple organizations that share common data as well as organizational or site level process configuration. It also enables aggregated reporting and analysis. Information and transactions are made available through a secure mechanism to mobile and desktop devices. The combination of XML and Web Services provides a reliable application and data integration mechanism across enterprises.
    In February 2002, a focus group, comprised of an impressive list of eight world-class companies representing the pharmaceutical, medical device and defense-manufacturing industries, became the first to evaluate the new CAPA system. These eight companies were selected to preview the application and provide real world input into the product. The focus group made a significant contribution to the system based on their experience and business practices. According to Pilgrim, feedback received from the group has been very positive.
