Amcast Organizational Changes

    DAYTON, Ohio--March 27, 2002--Byron O. Pond, Amcast Industrial Corporation President and CEO, announced today the following organizational changes effective April 8, 2002.
    Joseph R. Grewe will join the company becoming Amcast Industrial Corporation's President & Chief Operating Officer and a member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Grewe will be responsible for all of Amcast's operations and will report directly to Mr. Pond.
    In making this announcement, Mr. Pond stated, "Joe Grewe brings over 30 years of extensive automotive and industrial manufacturing experience to Amcast. In his most recent assignment, he was Group President of Film and Fabrics for Saint-Gobain, a worldwide company headquartered in France. During Joe's career, he has been associated with other fine companies such as Mascotech, Rockwell International, and General Motors. Mr. Grewe is a graduate of the University of Detroit where he received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a master's degree in business administration.
    Mr. Grewe's experience will be an important addition to Amcast. He is joining Amcast at a point in time when we are making significant changes in our production system and manufacturing processes. We are confident that his extensive background will help us reach our improvement goals at an even faster rate."
    With Mr. Grewe's arrival, Leo W. Ladehoff will be retiring as Amcast's Chairman of the Board, while remaining a director; and Mr. Pond will be assuming the Chairman's duties, while continuing as Amcast's Chief Executive Officer.
    Mr. Pond went on to say, "Mr. Ladehoff's contributions to Amcast are legendary. We were extremely fortunate that Leo agreed to resume an active role in the company in February 2001. He has made many valuable contributions over the past year and his guidance and counsel have been and continue to be vital in helping to put the company back on a proper course. We are very grateful for Mr. Ladehoff's past service and look forward to having him continue as a director."
    Mr. Ladehoff stated: "I am pleased with the company's progress towards the turnaround necessary for future success. This series of management enhancements accommodates an orderly succession plan we believe to be in the best interests of our shareholders."
