15.661 at 122.521 mph. Mike Skinner, in the No. 4 Kodak Chevrolet Monte
Carol was third quickest (15.786/121.551). Jeff Green, in the No. 30
America Online Chevrolet was fourth, 15.791/121.512. Jeff Gordon was
seventh in his No. 24 DuPont Monte Carlo.

Six Monte Carlos held positions in the top 10, including Kevin Harvick, No.
29 GM Goodwrench Monte Carlo, in ninth, and Steve Park, in the No. 1
Pennzoil Monte Carlo in 10th.

JERRY NADEAU: "The car here in Bristol is really good. We haven¹t even had
a chance to test here. The guys did an awesome job. We¹ve got a great race
car for tomorrow¹s race. As far as the rules changes (are concerned) I¹m
looking forward to Texas . I think that the new rules are going to benefit
Chevrolets. (I¹m) not sure how much, but I¹m sure they¹ll be a lot better
than where we are at now." DO YOU THINK THERE WILL BE MORE CHANGES?: "I¹m
sure there will. I don¹t know that." ON HAPPY HOUR: "Happy Hour was good.
I like this track. It¹s a lot of fun. You just got to have a good spotter,
that¹s the biggest thing."

TONY FURR, NO. 25 CREW CHIEF: ON THE MODIFICATIONS TO HOW THE CHEVYS WILL
BE MEASURED IN TEXAS: "It¹s in a positive way, but it¹s still not enough.
It¹s really too little almost too late. ŒCause we done give the Dodges a
good start on the thing and the Pontiacs. It¹s definitely a step in the
right direction. It¹s just not near enough right yet; we need some more to
get close to those guys. It¹s obvious in the wind tunnel numbers produced
in Atlanta. If we could get a little more in the front and rear we would be
even better yet." DO YOU LIKE COMING TO A TRACK LIKE THIS WHERE ALL OF THIS
DOESN¹T MATTER? "Well, you don¹t have to put up with all that bitching and
griping and stuff, that everybody¹s got the advantage because the only
advantage here goes to the ones who work the hardest."
