FOR RELEASE: March 23, 2002Chevrolet Teams with Pittsburgh Chevy Dealers to Give $66,000 to Area Youth Programs
PITTSBURGH, March 23, 2002 - Chevrolet and 11 Pittsburgh-area Chevy dealers have united for a common goal: to work together to provide young people in Pittsburgh with the life skills, experiences and resources they need to become positive members of their community and role models to their peers.
Nearly $66,000 will be distributed into the hands of local nonprofit organizations in the Pittsburgh area.
"I am extremely proud of the contribution that Pittsburgh Chevrolet dealers have made to local nonprofit organizations," said Kurt Ritter, Chevrolet General Manager. "These organizations are making a difference, and we at Chevrolet wholeheartedly support their efforts."
Chevrolet and its Pittsburgh dealers contributed the funds as part of a larger community service initiative called Chevy R.O.C.K.: Reaching Out to Communities and Kids. Chevrolet dealers in 13 cities across the country have the opportunity to participate in Chevy ROCK's Matching Grant Program to respond to their communities' priority of providing local kids with safe schools and communities to help them develop the skills needed to grow to their full potential.
During the 2001 Matching Grant Program, Chevrolet and its local Chevrolet dealerships gave $350,000 to nonprofit youth organizations across the country. The Pittsburgh area received nearly one-fifth of the national donation.
The following is a list of Chevrolet Pittsburgh dealers, the organizations they supported, and the amount of the contribution. Chevrolet Motor Division matched each donation dollar for dollar.
