 Law Takes First Pole of Season

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE


FONTANA, Calif. (March 22, 2002) - Darren Law picked up his first Grand-Am Cup Street Stock Series pole during qualifying for Sunday's inaugural running of the Grand-Am Cup 250 at California Speedway. Law piloted the G&W Motorsports #01 Jennifer Fund Porsche GT3 Cup to a 1:47.994 lap at 94.171 mph.


Unfortunately the day's earlier qualifying session for the Rolex Sports Car Series Grand American 400 didn't go as well for Law. Actually, it didn't go off at all for the G&W team.


In the second practice session of the day, the rear deck lid flew off of the #07 Momentum Motorcars/G&W Motorsports Picchio. The team had the spares to put the car back together, however minor work had to be done to get the car ready for Saturday's race.


Since the car failed to qualify, it will start on the outside of Row 9 on the grid.  


The Picchio has gained horsepower since its previous two races and has been  in the top three overall in all of the Rolex Series practices this week at the California Speedway.
