Major Expansion of FP Diesel(R) Engine Parts Brand Through Integration of Sealed Power Medium, Heavy-Duty Product Lines

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., March 20 -- FP Diesel, already the fastest-growing brand of replacement components for engines used in medium- and heavy-duty trucks, agricultural, construction and mining equipment and marine applications, will more than double its product offering through the integration of the respected Sealed Power heavy-duty engine parts line.

FP Diesel and Sealed Power engine components and systems are manufactured and marketed by Federal-Mogul Corporation , which issued the brand expansion announcement during the 2002 Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Kentucky.

Established in 1993, FP Diesel is the premier brand of advanced replacement engine technologies for a broad range of commercial vehicle and equipment applications. Federal-Mogul, a global leader in the design and manufacture of precision engine components, acquired the FP Diesel brand and product line in 1997.

FP Diesel replacement engine components include pistons, piston rings, bearings, cylinder liners, camshafts, crankshafts, valvetrain components, gaskets, seals, fuel system products, cooling and lubrication system components, specialty chemicals and tools and complete engine overhaul kits.

By integrating the thousands of Sealed Power medium- and heavy-duty components into the FP Diesel product line, Federal-Mogul establishes itself as the leading source of advanced engine-service solutions for distributors, fleets and other aftermarket customers, according to Steve Hildebrand, director of marketing-engine, North American aftermarket, for Federal-Mogul.

``FP Diesel has earned a reputation for providing the finest technologies and services to customers repairing the world's most popular engine platforms,'' Hildebrand said. ``We're enhancing this exclusive market position by combining the strength of FP Diesel's customer-focused business philosophy with preferred technologies and products for a much wider selection of engines.''

The integration of the Sealed Power heavy-duty and FP Diesel brands, scheduled to be completed this year, will result in a single product offering covering the vast majority of commercial engine applications. FP Diesel historically has offered complete coverage of internal components for the most popular engine nameplates, while the Sealed Power product line has covered a broader range of engine platforms and model years, Hildebrand said. ``Now we're offering the best of both worlds under the FP Diesel brand,'' he said.

``The FP Diesel brand has grown through a relentless focus on providing engine component technologies that deliver superior performance and durability,'' he said. ``Now that FP Diesel is a central part of the Federal- Mogul family of engine systems products, it benefits from the company's clear global leadership in advanced research and manufacturing. And the integration of the Sealed Power offering takes this advantage one step further by greatly expanding FP Diesel's coverage into new markets and hundreds of new applications.''

The brand integration does not affect Federal-Mogul's product offering for automotive or small-engine applications, according to Hildebrand. Sealed Power is the company's leading brand of replacement engine components for passenger cars, vans, light trucks and sport utility vehicles.
