PTC Windchill Applications are Successfully Deployed by TRW Automotive

NEEDHAM, Mass., March 20 PTC, the product development company, today announced that TRW Inc. has successfully implemented three Windchill® applications in just six months to enhance automotive production processes. In its continuing effort to increase productivity during the current challenging economic climate, TRW Automotive plans to apply PTC® solutions purchased during the past three quarters to additional business processes in the near term, demonstrating its commitment to PTC solutions.

``PTC has shown its dedication to TRW and the automotive industry by continually delivering beyond our expectations,'' said Judy Snyder, director for the e-Enterprise group at TRW. ``Although we set up a very aggressive production timeline, we were able to deploy the first three production-level applications on schedule. We expect the three applications will generate significant cost savings, as well as provide benefits such as improving our customer relationships by enabling early collaboration on designs.''

TRW Systems, the system integration and information technology business of TRW Inc. and a PTC enterprise consulting partner, also supports TRW's Windchill implementation. To date, TRW Systems has implemented a manufacturing solution that facilitates electronic quality control; a PTC® ProjectLink(TM) collaboration solution - implemented in 10 days - that enables platform-specific global collaboration; and a collaboration solution to achieve ``Design Anywhere, Build Anywhere'' objectives. TRW is currently implementing other PTC applications for enterprise-wide 3D data access, engineering change process management, and automation of TRW's quoting process.

``PTC's understanding of the product development process, along with the robust Windchill-based collaboration solutions, have given us the ability to be very aggressive in our strategy to be a truly global design company,'' said Suketu Patel, vice president, Information Systems, TRW Automotive. ``Our early success with PTC has validated our broad vision to automate all of our application engineering business processes. These truly strategic solutions can improve our capabilities in engineering, finance, purchasing, manufacturing and our supplier value chain.''

``TRW is a great name in the automotive industry. Engineering leadership, quality and efficient delivery are hallmarks of TRW's reputation,'' said Paul Cunningham, executive vice president, Americas Sales at PTC. ``By continually improving performance in these areas, TRW has remained one of the most customer-responsive companies in the industry. PTC's product development solutions are a valuable part of this program, and we are proud to help TRW sustain its competitive edge.''
