MARLIN SCORES SECOND WIN OF SEASON

DARLINGTON, S.C. (March 18, 2002) - Darlington is known as "the track too
tough to tame."  The folks at Darlington Raceway might want to consider
changing their slogan.  Sterling Marlin dominated the high-banked 1.3-mile
oval on Sunday, charging from last place to take his second victory of the
season.  
 
After being forced to change an engine after Saturday's happy hour practice
session, Marlin had to forfeit his 11th place qualifying position and start
the race in last place (39th).  Marlin, who is the only driver to finish
every race in the top-10 this season was happy with his victory.
 
"I knew yesterday that we had a good car in happy hour," said Marlin.  "But
I didn't know it would be this good.  Our car was really good on long runs
today.  It's a credit to all these guys here at the shop and at the track.
Dodge and everybody pitches in and makes this car go.  I'm just real
fortunate that Chip and Felix let me drive this thing.  I'm tickled to
death.  I'm having the best time of my life."
 
Marlin currently leads the Winston Cup point standings by 99 points over
rookie Ryan Newman.  Marlin has finished in the top-10 in eight straight
races.
 
Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates team will tackle the high banks of
Bristol next week in the Food City 500.  The race can be seen live on FOX at
1 p.m. ET.
