Editorial: Hey Hyundai, Kentucky Is The Place To Build (Good Cars).
When push comes to shove I believe that "reality of results” should be used to help make decisions.
If I was going to make a decision that would have long lasting importance to my company’s future I would factor in relevant history to help me decide.
Over the past 14 years Kentucky has proven to be more than the right choice for Toyota, where the best, most reliable car the in the world is being built by caring hard-working Kentuckians, who have not forgotten the value of a fair days pay for a fair days labor…and there are lots more fine workers where they came from.
In the Glendale, KY vicinity are folks who have grown up with a work ethic that rivals any in the world. I have personally noticed a diminishing quality of Fruit of the Loom products since the management of the company decided to save a few cents and move their manufacturing to Mexico.
There are hundreds if not thousands of enthusiastic “salt of the earth” factory workers just waiting to build what we believe will become a “Best Seller” here in the States.
So Hyundai …as many before you have discovered that: having UPS Airlines just a short few minutes up the road means that you can ship or receive almost anything to/from almost anywhere in the US in just a few short hours, and to or from Asia and Europe overnight can become a lifesaver and competitive advantage
If you ever need a machine tool part from Asia you can get it fast via UPS air, and because Glendale is well within a 7 hour drive from most of the machine tool makers in Detroit and Ohio you can keep things going with little if any down time!
Transporting finished product to the large markets of the Midwest and Northeast is easier because of the central location of Glendale KY…Chicago 6 hours; Detroit 6 hours ; Cleveland 6 hours; Atlanta 6 hours; St. Louis 5 hours; Washington DC 10 hours; New York 12 hours…Texas and the Southwest are just down the road a-piece
And getting to Korea is just a one plane change trip from convenient SDF to beautiful Inchon in less than twenty hours….and for your execs that need to travel to Orange County…the fares and schedules from SDF are terrific.
As a publication interested in the automotive universe we look forward to watching your plant grow and your business and standing in the US grow along with it.
THE LAST LINE: Welcome to Kentucky, Y’all.
