5 Classes . . . 5 Wins.
Performance Friction Brake Products Outperform the Competition
at Homestead Grand -Am Series Event
March 15, 2002 (Clover, NC) The results are in from the Nextel 250 Grand American Rolex Series race in Homestead held March 1-2, and they speak for themselves. Performance Friction Corporation (PFC) brake products showed its dominance once again with five wins and major representation in all five Grand-Am racing classes. PFC brake discs were raced on 16 of 35 cars at the weekend's event, while brake PFC pads were raced on 77% of the racecars, or 27 of 35 of the entries.
"When more than 3 of every 4 race teams pick your product over the competitions, it's a big deal," asserts PFC Director of Motorsports, Darrick Dong. "We would like to thank every team for their continued support and trust in our products. Racing is not an easy sport, so if what we do here at PFC makes their day safer and their performance better, then we are doing our job."
Among the Nextel 250 highlights for PFC Grand-Am Teams:
SRP Class: 1st (Doran Racing) and 2nd overall (Intersport Racing); 1st (Doran) and 2nd (Intersport) in division
SRPII Class: 1st (Rand Racing) in division; 3rd overall
GT Class: 1st (Perspective Racing), 2nd( Scuderia Ferrari of Washington) and 3rd (Fordahl Motorsports) in division; 4th (Perspective), 5th (Scuderia) and 7th (Fordhahl) overall
GTS Class: 1st (Park Place Racing) in division; 6th overall
AGT Class: 1st (Team Flis) in division; 8th overall
One might think this "5 classes - 5 wins" phenomena takes place only every once in a while for PFC, but it happens often. PFC is seeing this dominance in nearly every racing series, not just in the Grand-American ranks. Each PFC performance compound offers a uniqueness of maximum stopping power, pedal feel, and wear. Performance Friction presents a choice of compounds to meet a team's specific race and power-sport needs. For example, developed after the ever-popular PFC 83 Compound, their new racecar 93 Compound has built-in improvements such as a better release characteristic; great improvement for trailing into a corner or modulation at threshold braking; and is much kinder to the disc.
"When it comes to ultimate performance with finesse, this 93 Compound pad is second to none," states Dong. "It's already been the winner of the Daytona 200 (Florida), Suzuka 8 Hours (Japan) and Jarama World Superbike (Spain) with Honda, the LeMans 24-hour with Honda/Acura NS; and the winner of Daytona 24-hour and Sebring 12-hour with Riley & Scott Olds Aurora."
What's the next title on the list? Any one of the hundreds of PFC Teams who use these products will tell you they will be next on the winners list. For more information on PFC high performance products or motorsports R&D programs, please call PFC at 803-222-2141.
