LINQ Telecom Gears Up for Third Car Giveaway
FORT WORTH, Texas--March 15, 2002--Building On Previous Successful Strategy, Fort Worth-Based Telecom Firm Seeks to Boost Distributors' Second-Quarter Sales Via Consumer
Contest
LINQ Telecom Inc., a facilities-based telecommunications company headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, announced today that it will give away its third car in the past four years as part of its spring marketing platform.
The car, a Chrysler PT Cruiser valued at approximately $16,000, will be awarded to the purchaser of a winning prepaid calling card, while the distributor and retailer selling the winning card will receive $5,000 and $1,000, respectively.
Basing this promotion on the success of the company's previous car giveaway contests in 1998 and 1999, LINQ executives are confident that this strategy, coupled with LINQ's reputation for reliable service, will push the firm to the forefront of the prepaid calling card market.
"Our last two contests each resulted in a significant sales increase," said Travis Hamer, president and CEO of LINQ. "We'd like to see that happen again, but we also want to continue building consumer/distributor relationships by showing that not only is LINQ a leading force in the telecommunications industry, but also a company that rewards those who purchase and distribute its products. Offering incentives such as this is an effective way to do that."
The promotion begins April 15 and will continue until the prize is awarded; based on previous experience, LINQ anticipates the contest will run through August. The winning card will be selected at random from any LINQ-branded cards activated during the time of the contest. The winner must present the winning LINQ calling card with the correct PIN intact to collect the prize. Only one prize will be awarded. If there is more than one winning card, the first person to present to LINQ the winning card with the valid PIN intact will be declared the winner.
In addition, participants can receive a free game piece by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope postmarked by August 31, 2002, to "LINQ Car Giveaway," 1300 S. University, Suite 100, Fort Worth, Texas, 76107. Residents of Washington, Vermont and Alabama may omit return postage. One request per address per day per envelope is allowed.
LINQ reserves the right to award a comparable cash prize in lieu of the Chrysler PT Cruiser. Any taxes or fees will be the responsibility of the winner, and odds of winning are approximately one in 1 million. LINQ employees, distributors and their relatives are not eligible. A prize won by a minor will be awarded to his/her legal guardian or parent. The contest is void where prohibited by law. The winner agrees to allow LINQ to use his/her name, address, photograph and likeness for advertising, promotional and other trade purposes.
