Pre-Race Notes for Race 1 at Sebring
- The Zetec Championship pole time is faster than all the support series
racing this weekend. No. 2 Jones time in qualifying for Race Two is quicker
than all but the American Le Mans Prototype cars and seven GTS cars.
- The Zetec Championship pole time is five seconds faster than the previous
lap record, set by Dayton Indy Lights and CART Toyota Atlantic Rookie of the
Year, Dan Whelddon in 1999.
- Unfortunately, a number of teams were robbed during qualifying for race
one, with wallets being the primary loss.
- No. 12 Smith's grandfather Reggie Smith is one of the co-founders of the
Sebring 12 Hours race, acting as of one of the chief officials for the first
20 years of the race.
- No. 3 Jones qualified 23rd overall, fifth in class for the 12 Hours of
Sebring in a LMP675 car, driving with his father Jeff and brother Ryan.
- No. 11 Rubenzer is racing a Van Diemen for the first time in many years
and just finished assembling the car at the track.
- No. 3 Sellers only suffered minor damage after hitting the tire wall
during qualifying for Race Two. The car will be ready for Race One in the
late afternoon.
- No. 85 Irving did not change his setup after Race One qualifying in hot
conditions and struggled with handling in cool conditions.
- No. 32 Dyer is swapping gears for Race One.
- No. 9 Kasemets had engine misfire throughout qualifying for Race Two and
is replacing all the electrical components.
