LEBANON VALLEY 358 MODIFIED SERIES READY TO ROCK AND ROLL IN 2002

MARCH 12, 2002
WEST LEBANON, NY - Lebanon Valley Speedway is well known for Big Block
Modified action but the 358 Modifieds also have a way of putting on one heck
of a show. For many years one of the most anticipated races each year at
Lebanon Valley Speedway has been the CARQUEST Auto Parts Race of Kings. The
100-lap race for 358 Modifieds is presented as part of the big CARQUEST Kings
200 Weekend September 7 & 8.
The Race of Kings is always one of the most competitive events held on
the 1/2 mile West Lebanon speed plant. The excitement of this great race will
now be carried over to several events during the 2002 season.
Lebanon Valley Speedway is pleased to announce their 2002 race schedule
will include a total of seven 358 Modified races. The 358 Modified series
will kick off on Saturday May 25 as part of the big Memorial Day celebration
sponsored by HSBC Bank, G & H Funding and Wohrle's Food Inc.
"Thunder in the Valley IV" featuring Tony Stewart and Dave Blaney brought
to you by CARQUEST Auto Parts, De Crescente Distributors and Molson Beer will
take place on Thursday June 27. "Can Lightning Strike Twice?" for Winston Cup
standout Tony Stewart as he will be defending his 100-lap Turning Stone
Casino 358 Modified Super Dirt Series title from last year.
Other dates on the schedule for the 358 Modifieds are Saturday July 06
Freihofer Baking Company and Snap-On Tools night. Saturday July 20 Rifenburg
Construction night. Thursday August 08 as part of the BUDWEISER Mr. Dirt
Track USA Advance Auto Parts Modified Super Dirt Series program. Saturday
August 31 Gable Auto Stores, Profit Concepts and Pepsi-Cola will present our
final regular Saturday night 358 program.
The 2002 358 Modified series will conclude with the running of the
100-lap CARQUEST Race of Kings on Saturday September 07. The competition for
the 358 Modified title will be fierce and this extra distance will separate
the men from the boys.
Many of the Lebanon Valley Modified drivers have access to 358 motors
and cars and are expected to enter the 358 events. The 2001 Lebanon Valley
358 Modified champion Rich Ricci Jr. will be looking to repeat. Kenny Tremont
Jr. & Guy Sheldon are rumored to have new 358 Modified rides for the 2002
season. Dick Larkin will be concentrating on his new rekindled partnership
with Modified car owner John Penning, as the pair will contend for Dick's
third Modified championship. Chris Moore and J. R. Heffner have really shown
improvement since expanding their driving schedules to include running 358
Modifieds.
Sportsman drivers will be allowed to compete in the 358 races provided
they field a 358 legal car in addition to their Sportsman car. The speedway
has also received calls from drivers that currently compete at other tracks
expressing interest in running the 358 Modified races at Lebanon Valley.
We are all looking forward to the 358 Modifieds putting on a great show
each night they are racing this season as well as all the other division in
action each week. More information on the 358 Modifieds will be released
soon. Lebanon Valley will open for it's 50th season on Saturday April 20th.
