Someone will soon be Kralling in a brand new Chrysler Sebring Convertible
VANCOUVER, March 8 - The Chrysler brand announced today the next step in its unique partnership with jazz sensation Diana Krall with the donation of a fully-loaded 2002 Chrysler Sebring Convertible Limited for auction at a fundraising event in support of the Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) & University of British Columbia (UBC) Hospital Foundation for the VGH Leukemia/Bone Marrow Transplantation (L/BMT) program. Additionally, a local promotion has been running through which a donation of $50 will be made to the hospital's life-saving L/BMT program from the sale of each new vehicle purchased at a Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep(R) retailer between Feb. 14 and March 8, 2002.
The black tie fundraising event, which takes place this evening at the Four Seasons Hotel in Vancouver, is sold out and includes a silent auction, a live auction and a dinner performance by Diana Krall. Lucky bidders will take home incredible items including a fully-loaded 2002 Chrysler Sebring Convertible Limited valued at over $39,000, a spectacular outfit - once worn on stage by Diana's personal friend Sir Elton John and a 10-day trip for two to Umberto Menghi's Villa Delia Cooking School in Tuscany (Italy) valued at $15,000.
"Our relationship with Diana Krall is exceptional in that we have developed a true partnership with her and her charitable efforts that extends well beyond the traditional celebrity endorsement of a product," said Pearl Davies, Senior Chrysler/Jeep(R) Brand Manager. "We are delighted to have her on our Chrysler team and are proud to help support this extremely worthwhile cause."
"My involvement with the Hospital's L/BMT Program began when my mother, Adella, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma - an incurable form of cancer that affects the immune system," said Krall. "After she underwent a successful bone marrow transplant in 1996 at VGH, the disease went into remission. Performing at this event is my way of thanking and supporting the incredible caregivers in the L/BMT Program who have taken such good care of my mother over the years."
"Because of Chrysler's generous donations and a special fundraising evening with Juno and Grammy Award Winning jazz vocalist Diana Krall, we are striving to meet the growing equipment and patient care needs of our Leukemia/Bone Marrow Transplantation Program. From all our patients and everyone at the VGH & UBC Hospital, thank you for caring and giving us all something to sing about," said Don Livingston - President and C.E.O. of the VHG & UBC Hospital Foundation.
The VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation is a registered charity established to raise funds for equipment, patient care programs and medical research for VGH and the UBC Hospital. For those who were not fortunate enough to get tickets early, cash donations in support of the VGH Leukemia/Bone Marrow Transplantation Program may be sent to VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation, 855 West 12th Ave., Vancouver, BC, V5Z 1M9.
