AAA Texas' Weekend Gas Watch; Gas Prices Rise Again at Popular Driving Destinations

    HOUSTON--March 8, 2002--Texas fuel prices increased a few cents in some cities since last week with Corpus Christi showing the biggest jump, according to the Weekend Gas Watch, compiled by AAA Texas. The Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline at popular destinations for motoring trips.
    The average price in Austin-San Marcos is $1.065, up 1.8 cents from last week. Motorists in Corpus Christi are spending an average of $1.115, up 6.1 cents, while Dallas drivers are paying an average of $1.091, up 1.7 cents. Houston has an average of $1.077, up 1.4 cents. San Antonio has an average of $1.06, up 3.5 cents.
    "Many motorists are starting to see slight increases at the pumps as they prepare to vacation during spring break," said AAA Texas spokesperson Rose Rougeau. "These increases may continue as the economy begins to recover and the summer driving season draws near."
