Schenck Pegasus Unveils STARS - a New Automation Software Platform Developed by SRH Systems Ltd - a Joint Venture of Schenck, Ricardo and Horiba

    DETROIT, SAE 2002, Schenck Pegasus Booth #2011-- March 6, 2002--SRH Systems, the joint venture between Schenck, Ricardo and Horiba, unveils its first new system at the SAE 2002 show in Detroit.
    STARS -- a new generation of automation software platform -- addresses the testing requirements of the automotive industry.
    Using leading edge software technologies and running on industry standard hardware, STARS applications will cover engine, powertrain, vehicle and brake testing, with powerful data analysis, reporting and management capabilities.
    Designed to be integrated into any testing environment, the STARS platform is open in every sense. An extensive range of third party instrumentation and subsystems is supported through industry standard interfaces such as ASAM.
    Products based on the STARS platform will be built and marketed by Schenck, Ricardo and Horiba. The global presence of these partners will ensure that customers can depend on local support for STARS, wherever they are located. James Fowler, Managing Director of SRH, observed that "the combined coverage of the Schenck, Ricardo and Horiba organizations around the world is impressive. While the STARS platform provides a common, global base, it is designed to allow products to be locally customized to the requirements of specific markets and customers".
    SRH has given careful attention to making the new system easy to use. The combined development and testing experience of the SRH partners -- Schenck, Ricardo and Horiba -- has helped to ensure that STARS is user friendly without compromising its functionality.
    SRH Systems started life a year ago as a collaboration between Schenck and Ricardo. They were joined by Horiba in October of last year. Reflecting on the first year of the SRH joint venture, Frank Haun, Chairman of SRH, commented "the new organization can react quickly to market needs to develop leading edge products in short timeframes.
