LEBANON VALLEY SET TO UNLEASH 4-CYLINDER ENDURO CLASS

MARCH 06, 2002
WEST LEBANON NY-Several new events will take place in the 50th season of
racing competition at Lebanon Valley. One of the most significant additions
to the upcoming schedule at the high banks will be the first ever 4-cylinder
class. Speedway management has decided to stage two events this season
strictly for four cylinder type vehicles. In an effort to promote interest
in four cylinder racing, Lebanon Valley will introduce this new class on two
separate occasions during the course of the season.
Racing has changed drastically in the hobby stock/enduro type divisions
all over the country. The bigger, V8 older style rear wheel drive cars are
slowly disappearing, in turn creating a bigger presence of 4 cylinder cars.
Lebanon Valley, in wake of this change, will run the first ever 4-cylinder
enduro event at the speedway. The first enduro type event will take place on
Saturday August 10th along with a full show of modified, sportsman, prostock,
and pure stock racing. The second 4-cylinder event will take place on the
final show of the year, Saturday September 28th.
"There has been a tremendous amount of interest in four cylinder racing
at Lebanon Valley, and it is becoming more prevalent around the country,"
commented track owner Howard Commander. "Track management agrees that
staging events of this nature will allow people who have never raced before
an inexpensive opportunity to try their hands at auto racing."
The rules for this division of cars are geared toward creating a class
that is relatively inexpensive and yet competitive. For the most part the
cars will be strictly stock, from frames, motors, injection systems, and
wheels. Rules have been established to maintain a safe entry-level division.
Rule bars, along with approved apparel will be mandatory in an effort to
promote safety. This enduro class will act as a springboard for those who
want to excel in racing competition.
Rules for this enduro division at Lebanon Valley can be obtained by
calling the speedway office @ (518) 794-9606 or (518) 794-9965. Office hours
are between 10am to 4pm. You may also obtain the rules on our web page,
