    PITTSBURGH--March 4, 2002--Ansoft Corporation today announced the release of its student version of SIMPLORER(R) 5.0, the company's popular mixed-technology simulator for automotive electrical/electromechanical systems, power electronics, and drive applications.

It has all the features of the SIMPLORER basic version, only the number of models that can be used per schematic is limited. In addition, users can download electronic versions of the manual and a "Getting Started" booklet.
    An extensive example database also is available as a separate download. Examples include basic teaching topics for use in electrical engineering and control theory courses, as well as more complex systems in the field of power electronics and drive systems design.
