Ansoft Releases SIMPLORER 5.0 Student Version; Ansoft Supports Schools and Universities with Free Software for Education in Power Electronics, Drives, and Automotive Technology

PITTSBURGH--March 4, 2002--Ansoft Corporation today announced the release of its student version of SIMPLORER(R) 5.0, the company's popular mixed-technology simulator for automotive electrical/electromechanical systems, power electronics, and drive applications.
"We've had great success with previous student versions of SIMPLORER, and thousands of teachers and students have used the software," said Uwe Knorr, EM Product Marketing Manager at Ansoft. "The unique combination of multiple technical disciplines in one easy-to-use, Windows(R)-based software package makes SIMPLORER especially appealing for courses in power electronics, control, and systems design. We encourage students, teachers, engineers, and researchers to download SIMPLORER since everyone can benefit from the software's enhanced mixed-signal simulation capabilities."
The student version, which users can download for free on Ansoft's Web site at www.ansoft.com, does not need any activation or licensing and is ready to use after the installation process. It has all the features of the SIMPLORER basic version, only the number of models that can be used per schematic is limited. In addition, users can download electronic versions of the manual and a "Getting Started" booklet.
An extensive example database also is available as a separate download. Examples include basic teaching topics for use in electrical engineering and control theory courses, as well as more complex systems in the field of power electronics and drive systems design.
