Most Powerful Jaguar Sedan Ever Spearheads New S-Type Range

IRVINE, Calif., March 4 -- Jaguar today announces the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Prices for its new 2003 S-TYPE sedan range, which goes on sale May 6.

Heading up the range is the all-new 400bhp supercharged S-TYPE R model -- the most powerful series production car ever to be produced by the Coventry, UK, manufacturer -- priced at $62,400 (inclusive of destination and delivery charges). Price accessibility to the range is addressed by a new 3.0-liter V6 model with 5-speed manual transmission costing an appealing $42,495 -- almost $2000 less than the cheapest model in the out-going 2002 S-TYPE range. Best seller in the new range is likely to the 3.0-liter V6 with a new 6-speed automatic transmission, power moon roof, CD player and power seats for less than $45,000.

The new 2003 Model Year S-TYPE sedan range retains its highly distinctive, stylish and admired exterior design while a thorough engineering program sees approximately 70 per cent new content in the car. The result is a new S-TYPE lineup that provides more of what premium sedan buyers want: more luxury, more safety, more refinement, and more performance. Major improvements include:

     * All-new interior
     * New suspension
     * Two new transmissions including 'first-in-segment' 6-speed automatic
        and 5-speed manual
     * Revised 3.0-liter V6 with 240bhp
     * New 4.2-liter V8 with 300bhp
     * New 4.2-liter V8 supercharged with 400bhp

The S-TYPE sedan range doubled Jaguar North America's sales after introduction as the company's third model line in May 1999. To date Jaguar North America has sold over 37,000 S-TYPEs and the new range arrives at a time when the company is delivering record month-on-month sales, most recently reporting its best ever February in the company's history with 5,511 sales (a 105 per cent increase on February 2001).

``With the launch of the S-TYPE in 1999, we clearly signaled that Jaguar stands for not only style and performance, but also terrific value,'' said Sue Callaway, Vice President and General Manager, Jaguar North America. ``The new 2003 S-TYPE range pours even more quality, driver satisfaction and value for money into a shape that our customers love -- the engineering upgrades deliver a car with real substance and one with much more than meets the eye.''

The 2003 Model Year Jaguar S-TYPE range comprises:
